Hollywood Dracula / Gerard Christian Zacher I've impersonated Dracula for the Hollywood (Los Angeles) public on and off for over 5 years (More) I've impersonated Dracula for the Hollywood (Los Angeles) public on and off for over 5 years now. This was my very first character. I stepped out onto the Hollywood Blvd Character Scene in 2002 as Hollywood Dracula. This being such a regal, majestic costume (everything was custom-made and cost me around a good $1000.00 to choose the fabric, design, and have the garments made by tailors and the wig custom made by professionals), I made my literally grand entrance onto the scene this way. It was a smashing success. However, because the costume was so expensive to have made and because of the severe restriction of movement in it, I began doing my other mutiple characters (Starting with Freddy), and brought Dracula out only once in awhile as a special occasion. Since that first stroll as Dracula back in 2002, I have unwittingly started a trend of impersonating not just one, not just two, but a multitude of characters - just because I enjoy being diverse as a performer. I get asked by other characters to bring him out all the time! I have also been featured in an upcoming full-length motion picture as my version of Dracula - "Ambassadors To Hollywood" by Archie & James Gip. It is due for official release in 2008. Currently, it is making the rounds at film festivals.
Now to the video itself...First, let me explain that THIS video is meant to be as different from the others as possible. In real life, as a person, those of you who know me know that I'm a very kind, friendly, caring, spiritual, sincere guy. I do NOT get into anything truly dark or evil, etc., etc. But as an ACTOR, I want to show diversity - that I can PLAY that if any such roles are ever thrown my way. In all my brand new video clips showcasing my various characters, I always include a few shots of the real me just so people can get an idea of what I look like (those who will view these and don't know me) that seem to go with the flow of the rest ofthe character pics. At first, I picked some smiling, light-hearted photos of me for this Dracula video. Let me just say they did NOT go with the rest of the pics AT ALL! So, I picked some serious ones. STILL didn't quite mesh. So, I chose some that - though originally taken in adifferent context - put together with THESE - the Dracula pics - justwent perfectly. In the movie and original book it is based on, Dracula starts out a religious man, who, through tragedy, turns against God andfalls from grace - punished by being turned into a vampire until hefinally finds religion and peace again at the end when his true loveputs him out of his misery. I chose some pics of my own that kind ofreflect & emulate that story somewhat. Some peole may get the wrong idea and let this clip disturb and upset them, but it is not intendedas any sort of real life reflections of mine.
I chose music from theactual soundtrack - pieced together. All the pics put in the order theywere called for something sound-wise that was very dark, evil, evenupsetting. This was my very first character on Hollywood Blvd back in2002. The costume being as regal and majestic as it was (allcustom-made and it cost me near $1000.00), I made a LITERAL grandentrance onto the character scene. It was a stunning smash. But thecostume being so delicate and restricting, I began to only bringDracula out as a treat every great once in awhile - making a specialoccasion out of it..
Again, I'm a peaceful, caring guy. But, being verymuch a method actor, when I get into a role, I REALLY sink my teethinto it! (Pun intended)
