Jungle Music: Leftfield - Storm 3000 The Cosmic Lounge presents Jungle Music: 'Storm 3000' by Leftfield.
"Leftfield (More) The Cosmic Lounge presents Jungle Music: 'Storm 3000' by Leftfield.
"Leftfield were a duo of electronica artists and record producers, Paul Daley (formerly of A Man Called Adam and the The Brand New Heavies) and Neil Barnes, formed in 1989 in London, England. The pair were pioneers in the fields of intelligent dance music, being the first to fuse house music with dub and reggae. They furthermore were among the first electronic musicians to incorporate live guest vocalists, along with The Chemical Brothers.
Their downtempo music style has inspired a genre which has been recognised as simply leftfield, with several charts appearing in magazines such as DJ magazine and Mixmag. The genre is also known as chillout.
Appearing in massive live arenas like The Block and Glastonbury, the duo showed to its fans that their music was as strong as their sound system. Their infusion has created a splinter group inside the ardent house and dub genre followers. Prior to Leftfield, no one attempted their kind of fusion and after their innovative sounds the world of electronica was compelled to blur the lines further. Hence we have seen a strong movement toward more experimentalism from every side of the wall. Tastemakers and opinion swayers adopted Leftfield as their sign of rebellion to the norm and to sum it all Leftfield themseleves signify that very rebellion.
Leftfield produced just two well-received albums, Leftism and Rhythm And Stealth, before disbanding in 2002."
