FFVII - Level 7 Tifa vs Ruby Weapon (No KotR) [Part 1 of 3] Weapon: God's Hand Armor: Mystile Accessory: Ribbon Materia: 2x MP Plus, W-Item, Throw, Final (More) Weapon: God's Hand Armor: Mystile Accessory: Ribbon Materia: 2x MP Plus, W-Item, Throw, Final Attack=Life, Final Attack=Barrier and Elemental=Fire. Beating Ruby Weapon with a level 7 Tifa is nothing new, but have you seen anyone do it without KotR before? Nope, didn't think so. So, how is this possible? Well, first of all because he's only got one attack that is guaranteed instant death. Another important factor is that he can be slowed and paralyzed. On the lowest battle speed, this will put him down for four turns. Since the instant death attack is used rarely, a mastered Final Attack linked to Revive is more than enough to keep you safe throughout the battle. Ok, let's take a look at his attacks. Ruby Ray: The big one. It deals 3000+ of non-elemental magical damage and with a MAt% of 255, it will never miss. There is no way to protect against it and there is no way to reduce the damage enough for Tifa to survive it, so you have no choice but to eat this one. Ultima: Another attack that will kill you, but only if it hits. With a MAt% of 100, it has a 60% chance of missing, thanks to the Mystile. Shadow Flare: Same as Ultima, but it can be reflected. Ruby Flame: Fire-elemental, so with a certain materia combo in the armor, you will never have to worry about it. Tentacle attacks: They all deal percentage based damage to your HP or MP and are therefore completely harmless. The tentacles are controlled by Ruby and never act on their own. He's got a few more attacks, but they are only used when the tentacles aren't present, so they are nothing to worry about. The strategy is very simple. You open the battle by slowing and paralyzing him, followed by hasting Tifa and giving her Reflect on the next turn. Then you can start attacking. His Defense and Magic Defense are both brutal, so the best way to deal damage is by using an attack that deals fixed damage. Yep, Coin. I made sure to have enough money so that I could throw the maximum amount at him every time, because even with ATB at Wait, time goes when you select the amount to throw. After four turns, he will "wake up" and attack. If he doesn't kill you with Ruby Ray, you can simply paralyze him again and continue attacking. If the tentacles deal damage to your MP, you need to use an Elixir ASAP, as you need MP for the Final Attack combo if he kills you on the next turn. Since you have to use two items anyway, you might as well just use an Elixir every time. After all, it doesn't hurt. If he uses Ruby Ray or kills you with Ultima, the Final Attack combo of Life + Reflect will be used. Reflect is very important, as he might use Shadow Flare on the next turn. Ruby has a very high Dexterity, so even with Slow, he will get another turn before you. Since Tifa got killed, she doesn't have Haste anymore, so that's your #1 priority when you get your first turn. She is also low on MP, but the chance he'll kill you two times in a row is very low, so I don't bother using an Elixir before he attacks again. That's about it. A pretty simple strategy. Of course, with his 800k of HP, the battle takes a while. It takes between 25 and 30 minutes, depending on how many times you get killed. (Less)

It was a long, but not too hard battle and I even had one Final Attack left. You also get to see Tifa gaining 20 levels, which is pretty cool. (Less)
