Many (More) Are you on Schedule?

Many of us are very proud about the number of years we have spent knowing the Lord. We will proudly boast, "I've been in church all my life," while others say, "I've been walking with the Lord 35 years...etc." While all of that is notable, what is our Spiritual grade for real? How do we look on God's time table? Are we on time on God's watch? Are we running ahead, running behind trying to catch up for some lost season- some missed opportunity, or are we panting daily after Him, seeking to walk WITH Him. See, many of us I'm afraid are not really walking WITH the Lord. Many are walking behind Him, or even in front of Him.
I began to sit here and pray- Lord am I on your time schedule?
See, we all have a set time with God. LaShun Pace sang a song years ago that said "My times are in Your hands." That song became really special to me, because I've always felt that I was a little before my time. Called to preach the gospel at the age of 14, I felt that the plan that God had mapped out for me was weighty for such a young person, yet it always felt right for me. It was my destiny, and I set out to reach it. However, over the years I've witnessed countless persecutions because I was not old enough, not quite "matured" enough, did not look ready...etc. I was counted out and pushed back because people had more natural years than I had, yet lacked spiritual maturity. I thought why would God interrupt my childhood and rush me into the process of ministry, if He did not want to start transforming my life RIGHT NOW? I thought, why wait until I'm 49 to have an in depth relationship with God. So what, I'm the youngest one to show up at prayer, oh well, I'll start a new trend.
But as I look around today and many years later, I can observe that many have lots of slowing down, or catching up to do spiritually. Many of us are trying to go ahead of God, while others are always in a hurry to catch up.
ARE YOU ON SCHEDULE? If you are rushing, SLOW DOWN and wait on the Lord. It's worth the wait, I promise (better yet, He's promised). If you are lagging back, I'll assure you that we don't have as much time as we think. The bible says it like this-
Rom 13:11 And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.
To think, many of us "mature Saints" are still trying to get it together. We are still trying to dress right. We are still wrestling with speaking to our church members. We are still learning how to speak to our neighbors. We are speaking in tongues and don't know how to speak to one another. We are still talking and gossiping. We are still robbing God and taking out tithes to the sale at the department store. We are spending all night in prayer, but calling in "sick" to work the next morning. Lord, help us (HELP ME)! While we are boasting about the number of years we've been saved, what about all the times in which we should have subtracted from our Spiritual age for backsliding, falling short...etc? LET'S NOT GO THERE OKAY!
I think (no I know) we need to let go this pride that we have just because we can recall way back when. I could probably swap church stories with the best of um, and I'm not even that old. Thank God for history, thank God that you were on the other side of the Red Sea fishing, when it parted. But before we start handing out plaques and certificates to the person who has been "saved" the longest, let's make sure our Spiritual timepieces match with God's. Compared to a lot of people my age, I've been saved and preaching a considerable amount of time, but am I on schedule? What about the times in which my answer shoulda been yes Lord yes, but it was maybe later Lord? Yeah, I'm making strides in the Kingdom now, but where would I have been if I said yes the first time? I'm learning to trust and obey now, but what about all precious time I've lost- trying to get it together? Hummmm-- Selah (Less)
