Bass Test - Demanding tracks for your system [Drum&Bass] 3.1 Please don't expect any responses until the end of April as I am currently on a round the world (More) Please don't expect any responses until the end of April as I am currently on a round the world trip.
This has been re-uploaded as video 3.1, which has been boosted in the bass range......
This is my mixing of someone elses session. I have put together three tracks that I think are a good and enjoyable test for your woofers and sub woofers. On the third (last) song I have also added short bass lines to enhance the ones that are already there, and at 8mins 20secs, have added short bursts of sub sonic bass that run in time with the music. You will see what I mean in the video.
Some of the video is over dubbed, and some of it is what the camera has recorded. You'll be able to know which audio is which by the coloured info that's permanently at the top of the screen.
I understand that not a lot of people like this taste in music. This music or thrashing some sub woofers is also not what I purchased this sound system for, but it is fun.
People keep asking questions about the setup, so I'll give you some details to save time:
The sound system cost between £7000-£7500, or $14000-$15000 USD. Interconnect and speaker cable were a bad dent towards this bill, which cost me well over £700. All wires tied together would still be less than 10 meters in length. It's probably the highest quality piece of the system though. (Look up the Chord Company for ideas)
At the time of this video (summer '07), my whole room was worth nearly £12000 ($24000) in electrical goods.
Since people feel figures are important and I get asked this all the time, as of this moment all of the speakers can handle 1.55Kw RMS (over a system average of 5 ohms), and all amplification totals 1.3Kw RMS (over an average of 6 ohms).
I'm considering scraping most of the system for a single pair of stand mounts or towers, and a single sub woofer. Realistically, my next purchases will be along the lines of B&W 803/4/5/ speakers and a Velodyne DD18/15 sub.
I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT DETAILS OF THE TRACK NAMES.
Before you say anything, yes I know, I could do with a little practice in my mixing, and yes there was a speaker out of phase! Thanks for watching! (Less)
