Superman The Movie theme played on custom Superman guitar !! Well folks, here we have the theme from Superman The Movie being played on a custom crafted Superman (More) Well folks, here we have the theme from Superman The Movie being played on a custom crafted Superman guitar built in June 2006 in honor of the movie "Superman Returns" by D Guitars Miami. It is solid one piece neck-through-body mahogany, finished in a red, yellow, and blue decoupage of various Superman comics telling the "story of Superman", as well as red, yellow, and blue acrylic lacquer to fill in the surrounding areas, top coated with 16 coats of high gloss lacquer rubbed out to a medium gloss. This guitar does have to be seen in person to really see all the details, which could not be fully captured on camera. The bridge, pickup covers, and switch tip, have all been painted in red and yellow brake caliper paint in the appropriate areas, to prevent chipping. The pickup covers were also decoupaged w/red & yellow comics, as well as painted. It has a reverse headstock shaped like Superman in flight with his image on the front. The top edge of the headstock was rounded towards the back to give the impression of the cape curving behind. It has a 22 fret rosewood fingerboard, again, painted and decoupaged in blue and red in the appropriate areas. The back of the guitar was painted in a dark royal blue to better match the padded strap. The cape, "S" shield on the cape, and the break-away chains on the strap were officially licensed items from 2006's "Superman Returns" movie. It has 2 Schecter humbucking pickups, master volume and tone, each knob having a small "S" on it, 3-way toggle switch, black Gotoh locking tuners, a Washburn Wonderbar tremolo bridge, and is strung with GHS Boomers .011. Total build time was approximately 3.5 weeks. I hope you enjoy the video and please leave a comment. Thanks for watching. (Less)

Almost 30 years ago, Richard Donner was hired to film Superman I and II. In 2006, most of Donner's original footage and vision for the second film was restored in a new Director's Cut. Powet.TV covers a brief history of the film's development, and compares the new version against the one that made it into theatres over 25 years before.
