VW Golf 2005 2.0 TDI MK5 TDI Tuning.co.uk Box… This is a very brief review of the TDI Tuning BOX (More) This is a very brief review of the TDI Tuning BOX I got for the Golf TDI. I haven't shown putting it in as it's pretty much standard.
Initially I noticed the performance increase on the medium setting but had excessive smoke so much so that there was smoke consistently just while driving on the highway.
From my reading all these boxes do is increase the voltages tricking the ECU and pumping in more fuel and with more pressure.
As I was more interested in saving on fuel I though the added risk to the injectors and engine wasn't worth it.
I haven't done extensive testing in the time I had it on but did notice a slight decrease in fuel economy, I don't argue that the car was definitely more responsive.
I maybe wrong and the system is perfectly safe, but wasn't for me.
I had it on for about 10 days and after trying every setting out of the 7 settings took it on.
I did get a performance increase, but with the excessive smoke and soot I thought it wasn't worth the risk of leaving it on.
I do believe these may work, but for me I got it mainly to get a slight improvement in economy and power, but ended up using more fuel and thought it might be risky for the engine.
I had it mainly on the lowest setting and was getting a very small amount of smoke but the engine emissions light came on in the end and was still getting soot spots on the back of the car.
I've been in contact with TDI Tuning.co.uk regarding a refund. I've sent back the unit and hopefully it works out.
I've since put on a changed the exhaust system and added Aero Turbine 2525xl muffler in another video which does seem to have made a slight improvement to economy and performance. (Less)
