It was originally composed by Kurt Weill and written by Bertolt Brecht for a German musical drama called Die Dreigroschenoper, or, The Threepenny Opera. The song became a popular American swing standard when it was translated by Marc Blitzstein in 1954 and subsequently made popular by Bobby Darin and Louis Armstrong. To date, dozens (probably over a hundred) of different versions have been recorded. I present you here with a small portion. 1. Bobby Darin - 1959 2. Duke Ellington - 1966(?) 3.
