Holy Wars (The Punishment Due) - Megadeth (Studio Version) Holy Wars (The Punishment Due) is the opening track to Megadeth's 4th studio album "Rust (More) Holy Wars (The Punishment Due) is the opening track to Megadeth's 4th studio album "Rust in Peace". It is one of their most popular songs and one of their hardest to play. The first section, known as Holy Wars features fast guitar playing and the lyrical theme deals with the Iraeli-Palestinian conflict. Then shifting at 2:26 after an accoustic bridge, the song becomes slower in tempo. This section is known as "The Punishment Due" and named after The Punisher, a marvel comic book character. The song is commonly know as just Holy Wars. This is arguably their best song and has recieved a music video as well as being a live staple throughout Megadeth's touring carrier.
