Koggala is a small beach village with its own cultural centre in the form of the fascinating Museum of Folk, Art and Culture. Guests may enjoy taking a boat trip on the lagoon and Kogggala Lake to see the surrounding small islands, famous for their fantastic bird watching. Its proximity to the picturesque Lake Koggala means that guests have the opportunity of coming to the hotel by seaplane, which is a truly impressive experience. The hotel is located some 140 kilometres from Colombo International Airport (CMB). The train station is some 10 km away. Facilities: The hotel, which was recently opened, is located near Galle and borrows its style from the ancient Dutch Fort, but puts a modern, 21st century spin on it. The hotel comprises a total of 49 rooms. It has a lobby with hotel safe and currency exchange facility. Bar and dining facilities also feature. Room and laundry services are on offer. Parking facilities are available for guests arriving by car. Rooms: The standard Rooms feature a super king 7 ft by 7 ft bed dressed in Egyptian cotton Frette linen and an open plan bathroom with twin headed shower and bath. These rooms open out onto their own private courtyard or garden balcony. In addition, all rooms offer a cutting-edge entertainment system, as well as designer fittings. Beach Rooms are located on the ground floor, and offer views out onto the gardens, beach and Indian Ocean beyond. The highlights on offer in these rooms include an open plan bathroom with large bath, rainfall shower and a split-level living area. Ocean Rooms are similar to the Beach Rooms, but are located on the upper floor of the hotel and feature high vaulted ceilings. Guests also have the added bliss of enjoying a bath in the Jacuzzi whilst taking in the magnificent views. Direct dial telephone, television and individually adjustable air conditioning all feature as standard. Sports/Entertainment: A nearby watersports centre offers scuba diving with PADI certified staff, or for more soporific leisure the Sen Spa will soothe away any executive stress guests may have brought with them. Guests may also make use of the outdoor swimming pool or hone their physiques at the gym facility. Meals: The hotel's sense of design extends to its culinary endeavours, meaning that exciting flavours are the order of the day. A range of venues serve Sri Lankan cuisine, innovative international fare and Fortress cocktails. Choice of dining is very much down to the discretion of the guest when it comes to venue and style; the range on offer varies includes wood-fired seafood pizza in the lush gardens, 24-hour in-room dining, dining by the pool, in secluded areas of the garden or on the beach. No matter the location, guests' every desire will be catered to. How to get there: Guests are met by resort staff at Koggala Airport. The seaplane comes direct from Colombo Airport.
